It's is strange to live in a city this size. It's really too small for anything too exciting to take place and much too large to have that 'small towne' charm. There's somewhere between 250,000 - 300,000 folks in this burg when UK is in session and for all that hemoglobin in the area, the only thing there is to do for most of these Lexingtonians, it seems, is go to the mall.

Yeah, there are some nice, nearly empty art galleries full of horsey stuff, some grossly underused park areas and lots of newly formed Latin culture (you can now order a bean burrito in no less than 4,863 authentic Mexican resturatnts in town!), but for me, personally, there is little more to do than belly up to bar somewhere and drink till pass-out time. Music, bah, I can hardly muster the energy to support 'the scene' even though I have a fond appreciation for our underground and the kids involved, I feel odd hanging out in a moldy, piss-smelling basement at my age to hear 20 years olds make feedback. And the 'clubs' in town seem to cater more to alt-country singer-songwriter dreck than loud and proud rock music. Theater, well, I think we have some very strong participants who are thrust into the position of performing in medicore efforts meant to draw fairly maudlin crowds who do not wish to be challenged, so if you want see 'Death of a Salesman' again you can do that, but don't look for to happen with a cast of midgets or anything fun like that. Oh, and UK sports, well God has proven that he hates UK football. It's now more exciting to bet one when Rick Brooks will be given his severance and placed in the nursing home than to actually watch a game and it's not December so I've not allowed myself to be consumed in all things Tubby.

So again, 'can I get one more Hoegaarden while I finish reading my Nougat for the fourth time this week?' My skyline is one building.
