Go Shorty, it's your birthday.

12 years ago today you came to me. A couple days later than we thought even. You started your descent on the 24th and the old man (me) had a midday rock and roll show on the lawn at the University of Kentucky. We had been up, and to the hospital, throughout the night but were sent home to wait on you. So Bro. George and the boys set up everything without your Pop. I showed up just in time to belt out an hour of misery to the uninformed, in the broad daylight even and mentioned how I was awaiting your arrival...that was a Friday, you took Saturday off, then decided Sunday was your day...it was a long Sunday, about 16 hours long...but you were more than a little remarkable when you finally made it to my hands. 12 years has done little to diminish the feeling of that moment...you, son, give me reason. It's your day. But it will always be mine too.
