i don't know if i have anything to say this morning. well, anything worth saying i guess i should say. the weather continues to bewilder (i really am aging, i am talking about the damned weather a lot). it seem it rains, then heats up, then turns strangely cool, then rains...and so on. i pick up the camera, i put the camera back down. i stare at things but no images jump to me. above picture is a great example of where i am. holga, close-up diopter. you know the drill if you do any sort of toy camera 'macro' stuff. pitch the viewfinder out the window, hold the camera a few inches from the subject, click. repeat. so i was blowing through some frames, enjoying a little of the summer fauna and never saw the bug on the petal of the flower until after the fact. i'm telling you, i have no idea where the inspiration goes, but when it goes, i'm hesitant to even 'look.' but i keep trying, knowing eventually, something will give, shots will come. seed, grow, dominate, whither, die...start all over...so i go.

here's some good news at least...got an honorable mention at the Plastic Fantastic, dubbed Greatest Toy Camera Show on Earth down in Texas. my work is hanging next to quite a few like-minded toy obsessed shooters. susan burnstine had a hand in the jurying along with carol watson, the chief cook and bottle washer of Watson Studio Gallery. also look for an upcoming edition of Fraction that'll feature some images by fathers of their young'ns curated by aline smithson.

petal power. Holga. Ilford HP5+.
