oh no.

oh no.

hey, heard an interesting commentary by colin cowherd, which in an of itself is rare, since as sports talking heads go, he is one of the more lame loudmouths with little to say--he thinks he's edgy with faux outrages and redundant rants about most of sports obvious (kinda like Nickelback being alternative). anyhoo, he caught my ear when he proclaimed that international soccer would soon be bigger in the US than the olympics, mainly because the olympics is too costly for NBC to continue to carry and without network TV no one would see them or care much. whereas ESPN has fallen in love with international soccer, cheap to produce and with the rise in youth soccer the fan base just might be there...i'm in and if ESPN or whomever can figure out how to get better camera angles, close-ups and as we familiarize ourselves with the stars i see no real reason it couldn't work...oh, i know, we love scoring and international soccer is much more strategic in nature and all that but if we can learn to love olympic gymastics, surely we can find a way to trick americans into watching a 90 minutes soccer match. as if beer, scarfs, hooligans and red cards isn't enough...
