heard a new tune this morning from Cincy's Wussy. those in the know might remember the Ass Ponys, a late 80s/early-mid 90s stalwart in the indie music thang-a-ma-bob that featured the vocals and lyrics of Chuck Cleaver. too many stand-out songs to mention from this band of super-players but damn it, but when i hear 'god tells me to' i wanna cry. anyway, i'm digressing, chuck is now vocally paired with Lisa Walker who is a mix of sort of old-school rocker chick ala' Runaways with a hint of Throwing Muses smarts...good--in other words, and with a fab-fucking-tastic backbeat courtesy of Mark Messerly (a god-like mulit-instrumentalist i remember way back in the Top Cats, Sudsy's days) and Joe Klug who skins it with the very mandatory Chocolate Horse...anyhoo, enough name dropping, Cleaver is up to his usual lyrical high wire antics and Walker seems completely to up to the dual billing, hell, her voice is slick as a wet rock and two of them have more interwoven vocal intercourse than a pair of horny cousins. i'll leave out the the discussion of their out of band relationship crap and just say all you need to know about Wussy is in the songs...track down the tune'Happiness Bleeds' now at the place were bands seem forced to park tunes...i think the new record comes out in total in a couple weeks...do your best to get it.
