![]() spreading the wealth around...and the debt, too Wednesday, October 22, 2008 nothing warms my cockles more than watching the mcPalin campaign implode daily upon itself as it struggles to find something--anything that will stick to the wall that might bump them in the polls, resonate with the public or make americans turn on obama. so the whole 'joe the plumber says you want to spread the wealth 'round and that sounds like socialism' is hot on the heels of the shrieks of 'terrorist,' 'acorn,' and 'muslim.' so let's take a look at the latest pinko-smear by mcDesperate. why does the word 'socialism' scare americans so much anyway? we have lived for a long time as a society that is a mix of socialism and capitalism...here's some things that are socialized and no one ever issues much of a complaint there's: * K-12 education * Police * Fire Fighters * Public Libraries * Roads * Public transportation like buses and the subway * Airports and air traffic control * Military defense and offense yeppers, your tax dollars at work, spreading that wealth around to make sure when you call 9-1-1 cuz you got your junk caught in the pool drain, the paramedics arrive, or when you are homeless and want to check out internet porn or check out Ann Coulter's new book, the library doors are open. oh, yeah, and when you don't want your private lear jet hitting jay-z's private lear jet in middair, the air traffic folk are gettin'-er done. and the war, yes, the war on 'terrorism' at the tune of over a trillion invested--is just good ol'socialism at work. hey we used your wealth, so it's your 'mission accomplished!' let's face it, the moment you pay the first penny of taxes, you have bought into socialism, when you got your library card, hit the highway for vacation and threw a yellow ribbon supportin' the troops on the saturn's trunk, you had already been sucked in--you nasty, commie bastard. sure, mcSame and his anti-socialism remarks win applause at campaign events. but they ignore the nation's long tradition of redistributing huge amounts of wealth through taxing-and-spending policies. shit, placing a heavier burden on the wealthy has been a cornerstone of the federal income tax since its inception in 1913. no one in washington is agin it--it's only about who gets to drive this taxing and spending juggernaut and who will profit in the end from said driver's navigation. ponder that the gap between rich and poor Americans has grown markedly in the bush reign as middle-class wages remained largely stagnant while corporate profits and high-earners' salaries soared. the nation's income inequality now ranks among the world's largest. the richest 10% earn an average of $93,000 a year; the poorest 10% make $5,800 on average. honestly, income tax itself isn't the real burden for most of us, the biggest tax burden is the payroll tax that funds social security and medicare. The tax rates are the same for everyone, and the social security levy does not apply to incomes above $102,000, a real plus for the wealthy. so this is just mcBush, trying to stir up the middle class by pandering, class warfare, turning those with some against those with none. does he mention his $5k health care tax credit is nothing but socialism? does he mention his running mate's socialized oil refund check to alaskans? alaska, btw, is little more than a welfare state that we all foot the bill for, as most of its revenues are tax incentives and earmark oriented. yes. and it seems the lipsticked pitbull even likes to socialize travel for her brood as well, it seems the vpilf charged the state for her children to travel with her, including to events where they were not invited, and later amended expense reports to specify that they were on official business. to the tune of about $21k! and you may have heard this morning that there's nothing like socializing your wardrobe with cash infused by the RNC...no, not just a little either but about $150k and not just for her but for the first dude and and the whole gaggle she drags with her. hmm, she's just like you and me, have you seen this fuckin' $1,200 sweater i'm wearing today? i ran into joe the plumber getting my mani/pedi the other day and he reminded me that the fundamentals of the economy are strong! especially if you are a wealthy republican! sure palin's wardrobe costs 4 times the median income of a 'normal' plumber, but girlfriend, $37,514 won't buy shit on the racks in this economic mess. hell, even the old man, with his shoddy memory and post traumatic judgement issues, has no doubt forgotten his own views on redistribution of wealth, as usual, the Daily Show is doing the job that 'the media' should be doing, have a look. all i am saying is c'mon, wise the fuck up, this presidential campaign is too important to let commie scares and racist, smearing, culture clashes decide the future. we are all in this boat together, it's gonna take all of us to get us out and if that is socialism then most of us are as 'red' as a baboon's ass because we fucking get it. we are part of the system, its problems and hopefully, its solutions. vote early if you can, vote regardless. now, how about socializing some fuckin' rock..here's mr. johnston. hi, how are you?
