Wednesday, October 24, 2007 so it has rained pitchforks and fat babies the last two days here in the stix. drought buster, i reckon, it is hotdamned soggy. me, i'm held up in the new corporate digs, 5th floor, looking out my window as the windshield wipers are slapping time on Circle 4, the iTunes is rocking Shellac (seriously, Excellent Italian Greyhound brings the noise, i say 'buy') and i'm pondering my artlife. which is severely different from my work life (if only in my head) mainly because i can claim ownership of my creations, ever so trite as they may be. friday, the big show goes up here in the hizzie. Photography What Now? the motivation of the juror Anita Douthat was to show some good examples of current techniques and trends in photography. we'll see if she succeeded as Mr. Bill, Mary Rezny, myself and about 70 more artists are all part of the festivities...they expect around 400 people for the opening i hear. costumes are also recommended, i'll be going as disgruntled, cynical asshole...basically, i'm going as myself. a guy i work with, bruce frank has a show opening the same night up in covington, ky. at the carnegie. bruce does so very nice floral stuff that mixes elements of photoshop tinkering, collage, painter effects and he prints them up big and archival for your enjoyment. so, at least my artlife can now again drift into discussion at my worklife. but i need more artlife. i have a actual project that i a mentally fleshing out, that i will start to yak about soon...oh, and i forget to mention, wtcd. i did some shooting. holga, holgaroid, mark l, and tru-view so once i get the film souped, we shall see. i hope the rest of you turds did the same. i imagine most did. so, yes, light...i need it...at the end of this tunnel, if only a shred, a shard to illuminate something that brings a little joy... dapples.
