Tuesday, July 03, 2007 struggle, push, strain, pedal...forward for something, anything or everything...with that in mind, i mentioned some time back i had applied for the Al Smith Artist Fellowship. in didn't get it, instead i was awarded a Professional Assistance Award. the state awarded 10 artists this bit of cash to continue working as a kentucky artist. amazingly, photography as an artform was truly recognized, 4 photographers received the honor, not bad at all. the cool thing is i am still eligible to apply for the Fellowship next year so it is a chance to get a little extra ommph. more on all this as i get the details but you can now say you 'know' a real kentucky artiste', i've been ordained. you'll want to pick up a shots now. i'm there, susan b. and annabelle too. new f-stop is out and they are taking lo-fi submissions for the next installment, courtesy of the fine folks at Light Leaks mag.
