Tuesday, June 26, 2007 from the 'things you might not no about me' files and today's headlines...firstly, i love pro wrestling. the cheaper the product the better. sure, wwe is okay, even though i haven't watched it in two years, but i used to love to go to po dunk burgs to check out the locals...again, i haven't done that in a while either. i was even in 4 small town matches back in my radio days...but those stories are for another day...today one of my favorite wrestlers--as a performer and as a 'guy'--is dead and it seems he killed his wife and child a couple days before killing himself...Chris Benoit, The Canadian Crippler--shocking and saddening. authorities are saying NO gun was used and that the details will seem 'a little bizarre' when they are released. i'm hearing strangulation, smothering and hanging as the 3 causes right now. i met benoit 3 times at small shows and through a mutual friend even had a brief conversation about food with him...to most of the 'educated' wrestling marks he was a kind of hero because of his toughness, true ability and unwillingness to buckle to the business side of things, he was considered one of the best and in many circles the best actual wrestler in the slimey world of wrestling...which i love. sorry for the strange, obtuse redneck diversion...grab your case and catch the cab back to the room, mr. benWAH, you will be missed. baggage claim.
