![]() skuulz out. Thursday, May 31, 2007 another school year ends...to me school years are more of a marker than actual age. 2nd grade to 3rd grade, 8th grade to 9th grade...this year has hummed along, at moments, much to fast for me, and at times, at a slug's pace. as kid's go from grade to grade, school to school, parent's trudge towards middle age, one gold star, one social studies certificate, one scribble in a yearbook at a time. we don't get to mature via a convenient hierarchy of numerical grades...if only. i guess we can only hang onto the identity of 'father of a freshman' or 'mother of a kindergartener' as markers of our aging...i think we should love our kids but do we have to be defined by them? this coming from a father whose photo work in many cases is...word--tread out--i'm in my sophomore year of my mid-life crisis. h study #4.
