![]() rubber chicken, rubber egg. Saturday, May 19, 2007 'I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen.' --After the September 11, 2001 attacks, Jerry Falwell to Pat Robertson on the 700 Club...Robertson concurred. Jerry Falwell, you and your followers, as it was so deftly conveyed on a bumper sticker, were neither moral or the majority. your brand of hate will not be missed. if there is a heaven and hell, (not surprisingly, i don't think there is) i'd be betting that fat fuck will have an apple in his mouth with the stench of uncured ham filling the crannies of hades. you might have picked up on this interesting irony, during all the eulogizing for Falwell, these same bush-backing, war-mongering rights are lambasting 'publican presidential hopeful, Ron Paul, for suggesting that America may have 'asked for' the attacks weighed against us because of our history of bombing in the Middle East. to discredit him, many right-wingers are grouping Paul into the 9/11 truth movement whose opinion is that the government 'knew' the attacks were coming or even orchestrated them...i won't go that far--i don't support Paul or any conservative, for that matter--but i don't think he was going that far either. rove and the troops are already spreading the word that Paul is a (gasp) libertarian, anti-semite, racist--funny, a real dyed-in-the-wool republican shows up and the neo-cons flip out, so much for worshiping at the alter of Reagan, i reckon. so here's Falwell, straight-up spouting that we deserved to be attacked for our lapse in morality and being eulogized as a great religious leader, whilst these same hacks eat one of their own for the suggestion that we may have shit in the mouth of the middle east for too long to not expect some sort of nasty regurgitation from the sphincter of Islam. here's my take--the only thing rudy guiliani and most of the war-supporting right has is 9/11. guiliani is particularly defensive about it and his legacy relating to it. he has loaded his pockets with ripe rewards (around $16mil) since his 'heroic' actions in NYC after the attacks. cash for speaking engagements and contracts for his new 'security' consulting business have become a lucrative post-9/11 cherry on top for rudi. btw, he was the mayor of the city, wasn't it his fucking job to show up and support the public safety workers in his city...the same workers that for the most part abhorred him and his administration for they way they were treated pre-attack...and my guess is he hasn't cracked the spine on the 9/11 Commission's report when he nullifies the notion that some factions of Islam were and are pissed and felt justified as 'absurd.' what? they don't hate our freedom they only hate our bombings? who knew?! my favorite gay, conservative, christian blogger andrew sullivan said it best last week, 'quit the bullying and start debating, mr. mayor. and get off that white horse. you're not our dictator yet.' if guiliani is the best the right has, to quote another 'publican idiot...'bring it on.' which came first the rubber chicken or its rubber egg?
