![]() golden light transmission Friday, May 18, 2007 hey, i know you are all 'tgif' and shit but i thought i'd drop some shit your way info-like... firstly--wilder made it to costa rica, wilder made it back from costa rica. he had a fabulous time. many of you are a part of his adventure. polaroid art is coming your way if you haven't received yours yet, not to worry, i promise it is coming...the rolleicord, the 'prize' as it were goes to none other than mr. chris mclemore, you might know him from his blog, fotogeneric. thanks everyone for contributing and cheering the trip along... secondly--i got prints on the wall--the art of photography show is still going on in san diego. if you are in the area get to the lyceum theatre gallery. i'm also a part of the huntington museum of art's annual exhibition 280. an incredible regional show garnering great reviews...see it if you can. finally--i mentioned briefly that i applied for a state arts fellowship. i also mentioned i'd share more details when i could, well, here's some preliminary info...every other year the Kentucky Arts Council offers visual and media artists an opportunity to compete for the Al Smith Individual Artist Fellowship awards. he purpose of the Al Smith Individual Artist Fellowship Program is to support Kentucky artists engaged in creating artwork of high quality and to recognize creative excellence in practicing, professional Kentucky artists. applications are accepted annually on a rotating basis by discipline, one year visual, the next year written, etc. the fellowship awards are named after kentucky journalist and past Arts Council Board chair, Al Smith. this year, 124 visual artists (including craft artists, experimental artists, painters, graphic artists, installation artists, photographers and sculptors) and 4 media artists (videographers and filmmakers) are in the running for the coveted fellowship awards of $7,500; only 14 will receive the highly competitive award. the Fellowship program utilizes a 'blind jurying' process which does not provide the selection panel with applicants' names; the panel reviews the work samples and applications according to application numbers only. criteria for the awards include artistic excellence, professional achievement and the potential of the fellowship award to enhance the artist's development and encourage the continuation of the artist's work...before the independent panel of out-of-state jurors reviews the work, the public, along with arts consultants, artist representatives, curators and gallery owners, will have the opportunity to view projected digital images of the work by each of the 124 visual arts applicants. take a look here for time, place and all that hoohaa, you can see an image of mine in the mishmash...i need some luck but regardless it is great to be included with this pack of great work...but the money would be great as i prepare for a future solo show, you know it is crazy expensive. oh yeah, i remember, you are all fucking 'tgif.' so g'head son, dance, this is LCD Soundsystem's cover of Harry Nilsson's Jump Into The Fire. for you, you will thank me. golden light transmission.
