Tuesday, May 01, 2007 muse-ick. i used to waste my days listening, making, eating, sleeping and especially talking about it. to call it a hobby would be offensive, i was living for my art. tunes, noise, loudness and the persons and personalities behind it. historically speaking, i have a hell of a pedigree (thanks to trouser press, a new kid in school from chicago with a good record collection and a hip asst. manager at the begley's drugstore who ordered import records weekly) just timing wise as i was a freshman in high school in 1978. ah '78--the sex pistols burn out, television stops, there to fill the void--cheap trick, the cars, x-ray specs, squeeze, pere ubu, blondie, the police--hell, the kiss solo albums...what a year. as an impressionable youth, this year cemented my desire to be rock singer...but i am digressing, this isn't about the past, well it is sort of...this year's kick-off to the pitchfork music festival... Friday, July 13: Sonic Youth performs Daydream Nation GZA/Genius performs Liquid Swords Slint performs Spiderland yes, you read that right, these 3 heavies play the records which firmly planted them amongst muse-ick's best. word. ticket up here. btw...that is only day one...yeesh! box of painted wire.
