 shadow play. Monday, April 30, 2007 ...caught moments of Former CIA Director George Tenet last night on 60 Minutes and this morning with Brokaw on Today. He's out fighting brush fires about his book and his scapegoating in the lead-up to the Iraq invasion. I have not read the book yet so my thoughts on the subject are based completely on excerpts I have read and Tenet's own words...I think he's dirty to some extent, not that I have trouble believing what he is saying, it's just one of those timing things that I have an issue with. Why not speak up when you are smack dab in the middle of the decision making. He admits the CIA gave then Sec. of State Powell 'bad' info that they then thought was 'good' info. I can live with that. He accepts a lot of blame for his and the CIA's mistakes, albeit his tone is more than slightly defensive in most aspects of the botched way they handled the post-9/11 info grab that was going on. He highlights the extraordinary efforts by Cheney and others to connect Iraq and al-Qaida as the spy community continued to not find the connect...all in all Tenet is trying to save his name, reassert some blame on this Bush administration, where it belongs, and get back with his original party, the Dems...me thinks it is too late and until Tenet actually stops giving the prez 'high marks' for his leadership--while bitching about everyone else in the clique--and he continues to defend torture as a means of interrogation--Tenet, I appreciate the info, now back to the mole hole of Washingtonista exile, if you are going to do a tell-all, by all means, TELL-ALL! shadow play.
