![]() same ol' shit. Tuesday, February 06, 2007 i got to tell ya. mucking around with this outdated Spectra film is a hoot. i still have not gotten a satisfying exposure compensation to suit me but i am not giving up. of course, shooting outdoors when it is 4 degrees F can't be helping my issues. i was pondering why in the hell anyone still uses polaroid at all when you basically can do the same thing 'better' for a fraction of the final cost by going digital and buying yourself a little Epson PictureMate (a great little printer BTW). i can't tell you why i like shooting with this old technology, i can only say that i do. the colors are bad, the cameras are bulky and basically automatically 'stupid' but the joy of a satisfying capture is quite alluring from these archaic beasts. i'm working towards a eventual large project but for right now i am just snap happy and having a blast experimenting. weird thing knowing that all the shots i take right now, i am giving away to people. what you say? giving away? yes, and you can get one. part of the aforementioned, 'send my kid South' telethon. you, of course, can and should join in on a fairly worthy cause. and while doing that get a little piece of original 'art' for your trouble... and getting an opportunity to win a Rollei TLR while giving a kid some of your hard earneds is kinda cool too. here's a little fun(d)raiser...join in and please help spread the word. i have to say, the response has really been something and the trip definitely going to happen because of your kind generosity. thank you, you guys and gals are truly something. what? i'm not sure. The 2007 Photobloggies are here...nominations are open...i should know, i nominated some of you. i expect you ought to hit me back with a nomination, it's the least you should do, maybe write me in for 'most useless information on a photoblog' or 'biggest asshole, smallest talent' or something. werd up. a couple quick other things of note...yes, i made it into JPG's part of the We Are All Photographers Now show. i surmise it is a pretty big deal given there were only 20 prints picked from the thousands of JPG submissions. so yes, i am humbled, which is something for me to say. i'm rarely humbled...cuz i'm an asshole, you know how i roll. also 3 of my shots are going to be in the print version of Opium Magazine in the March issue. Opium is a cool rag, online and off, that is bitingly fun, upwardly mobile, literally astute, artistically sarcastic and hipper that you or i, well at least you, could ever be. (see above for asshole reference). haha hataz. Minolta Instant Pro. Outdated Polaroid Type 990. New Light Leaks. New JPG. Same old GoTreadGo. Visit the Toy Polloy online gallery.
