A just released Consumer Reports study shows that chickens, the kind you buy at market and cook up at home, are harboring some pretty nasty bacteria. And not just a few of them...a startling 83% of chickens tested carried either salmonella or campylobacter, the two leading causes of foodborne disease. That number is up considerably from 2003 when CR reported 49% carried either one or both of the bacteria. Just as alarming was the fact that when the bacteria were tested for antibiotic resistance there was evidence of resistance not just to individual drugs but to multiple classes of drugs. Even chickens that were raised antibiotic free still carried a resistance to the antibiotics. The tests included all varieties of chicken from the cheap bird to the high-end organic, farm-raised variety...it didn't matter, they all were carrying disease-causing bacteria. Friends, seriously, EVOLVE! The bacteria are. You need to find alternatives to the way you eat, to what you eat. Your fucking food is going to kill you, it probably already is.
