![]() fez you sez? Wednesday, September 13, 2006 In his comic-strip religious tract, The Curse Of Baphomet, Jack Chick lamblasts Freemasonary and Shriners claiming 'in the 8th century, Muslim hords [sic] overran the Moroccan city of Fez and butchered 50,000 Christians. The Muslim murderers dipped their caps in the blood in honor of Allah. These blood-stained caps were called fezzes, idols dedicated to a false god (Satan.)' Ol' Jack Chick uses this as evidence that the Fez is satanic, supporting his claim that Shriners are part of an anti-Christian conspiracy. There is no historical evidence to support this story, and many Shriners have responded by reminding detractors that many are, in fact, Christians, who are active in their particular churches and denominations. In this classic Chick tract the main character, Mr. Scott, exclaims 'I'm a Shriner!' His neighbor Ed replies, 'No! I had no idea you were into witchcraft.' All that being said, the Shriners are noted for their charitable works, rather most notably the Shriner's Hospitals for Children, which provide medical treatment to kids free of charge. Hail Satan?
