![]() lightleaks 3 Thursday, June 15, 2006 So I haven't really talked about this much, so today is a good day to do that. Lightleaks 3 is out. Lightleaks is a magazine, not the online variety an actual hold it in your hand, read it on the pot, smack the dog on the ass for humping your leg magazine. It comes out roughly quarterly as is dedicated to showcasing Toy Camera images. Images you are not going to see very often in the mainstream photography publications with few exceptions. I am very proud to say on the latest issue I served as the photo editor and Lightleaks Press (the publishing company started by Mike Barnes to handle production) recieved roughly 3 times the amount of submission that could fit in the publication. A great problem to have for a small publication. It was a very difficult task, tons of great snaps and I am proud to say that the issue is fabulous, not because of my efforts but because of the work from so many great photographers. This issue also has an indepth interview with photographer Lee Frost by Steph Parke and features his toy camera images from Cuba, amazing color work that alone is worth the price of the zine. There's also some featured work by by Nigel Amies and Lisa Sanderson as wel as some tasty how-tos, and Gary M's tech toycam talk that I eat up with a spoon. I also kicked off my first column for Lightleaks, Treadly Speaking. It's a verbal and photographic assualt on camera spot cliche's. The places all of us go with our cameras to try and capture pictures and usually come away uninspired or shoot the shots we've all seen hundreds of times. I'm trying to preach different techniques in these spots to maybe catch you a keeper image-wise. The first column is about shooting in cemeteries, the above image is from my day of muking around while shooting for the article. Buy a Lightleaks magazine. I think if you enjoy coming by here or any blogs or sites recommended here you will love Lightleaks and you'll want to help spread the word. drawing on the fishback tombstone.
